Foundations of Public Speaking Course

This six-month program is designed for students seeking to master the art of public speaking across a variety of formats and real-world settings. Moving beyond introductory basics, the course builds a versatile foundation in delivery, critical thinking, research, structured expression, and practical communication. Students will learn not just how to speak, but how to think and present with purpose—whether in a debate room, on stage, or in professional life.
Students develop core speaking skills by overcoming stage fright and learning persuasive delivery. Through voice, body language, emotion, and rhetoric, they begin shaping a confident speaker’s personality. Exercises focus on connecting with audiences and building presence through tone and style.
This month introduces students to the fundamentals of reasoning under pressure. They learn to distinguish and craft moral vs. practical claims, and apply them in structured arguments. Time-pressured thinking drills teach students to form persuasive responses on the spot.
Students are taught how to search for, evaluate, and use credible information in speeches. They’ll practice online and academic research, source analysis, and strategic information recall. Topic briefings on global issues—from politics to science—equip them with real-world content depth.
This module introduces major competitive and collaborative speaking styles: WSDC, British Parliamentary, Asians, Public Forum & Model UN. Students will explore structural differences, speaker roles, and unique strategic elements of each. Sample rounds and short-form exercises allow students to experiment and discover their strengths.
Students explore how speaking skills apply to leadership, interviews, presentations, and speaking in front of large audiences. Workshops train them for live audience engagement, event hosting, and persuasive pitching. They’ll learn to adapt tone and content for professional, academic, and social contexts.
This month focuses on transforming ideas into compelling speeches through structure and narrative. Students will learn to build arguments, integrate examples, and use storytelling to create impact. By the end, they’ll deliver original, structured speeches showcasing all they’ve learned.
